Business Cards - What a waste
Hi!
I just finished reviewing the latest local business cards directory booklet and get this: I got to page 35 before I found a card that had any type of call to action.
It’s pretty much a complete waste of time and money for nearly all of the other cards as they focused completely on their business itself, and didn’t give anyone reading the directory any reason to choose them over the business right above or below them.
It’s interesting as on page 35 there are actually two (of the four) that have a fairly good call to action. They are both in real estate in case you are interested.
The first has “Put a SOLD sign on your home Call XXXX”.
The second has “Find Out What Your Home is Worth - Free Market Evaluation. No Obligation. Call XXXX Today”.
So it shows that some people are learning the proper ways to design and market their business cards.
HTH,
Mark

Mark,
I enjoy your blog. I will agree with you about business cards in general: what a waste! In my opinion a business card is the most valuable 7 sq. inches of real estate a business owner has. Most often it is wasted. The truth is people don’t really care about your contact information, they want to know one thing, what’s in it for them. Or as you say, a call to action. I’m not just saying this because I’m in the business card business, I’m more of a marketing guy you happens to provide full color business cards. I just hate to see any marketing opportunity go to waste of small business owners who can ill afford to waste marketing dollars do so. spend a few dollars and have a card professionally designed so that it will sell 24/7.
Keep up the good work!
Mark

Hi Mark,
Wow! Over a year online, and I FINALLY get a comment I don’t have to delete as spam!
And you’re dead-on about what “should” be on a business card.
Have a great day!
Mark
P.S. I like some of your samples! The David Goldman looks good!
